Philippine Airlines
Philippine Airlines (PAL) is the flag carrier of the Philippines and the first commercial airline in Asia to operate under its original name. Headquartered in Pasay City, it operates primary hubs at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Mactan-Cebu International Airport, serving a network of over 30 domestic and 40 international destinations.
- Fleet and Flagship: In early 2026, the airline is undergoing a major transformation with the introduction of its new flagship, the Airbus A350-1000. As the first operator of this type in Southeast Asia, PAL is using these jets to replace older Boeing 777-300ERs on ultra long haul routes to North America. Five additional A350-1000s are scheduled for delivery throughout 2026.
- Service and Ratings: PAL is certified as a 4-Star Airline by Skytrax and has been recognized as a 2026 Four Star Major Airline by APEX. It is celebrated for its Buong Pusong Alaga (wholehearted care) service philosophy, which highlights traditional Filipino hospitality.
- 2026 Network Expansion: The airline is significantly boosting its transpacific capacity, including an increase to 18 weekly flights between Manila and Los Angeles starting in June 2026. New regional connections, such as Cebu to Guam, have also been launched to diversify international access beyond the capital.
- Modernization Initiatives: Beyond new aircraft, PAL is refurbishing 18 Airbus A321ceo jets with updated cabins and inflight entertainment systems. The airline is also set to resume Airbus A321neo deliveries in 2026 to further enhance its regional efficiency.
- Loyalty and Partnerships: Its frequent flyer program, Mabuhay Miles, allows members to earn rewards across its network and those of its partners. While not a member of a global alliance, PAL maintains strategic codeshare agreements with major carriers like American Airlines and Qatar Airways.
