Norse Atlantic Airways

Norse Atlantic Airways is a Norwegian low cost, long haul airline that specializes in affordable transatlantic travel. Founded in 2021 by industry veterans from Norwegian Air Shuttle, it launched operations in June 2022 to fill the market gap for budget point to point intercontinental flights.

Strategic Pivot for 2026

As of early 2026, the airline has shifted to a hybrid business model to ensure financial stability.

  • ACMI and Charters: Norse now leases half of its 12 aircraft fleet to other carriers, such as the Indian airline IndiGo, under long term contracts to generate predictable revenue.
  • Streamlined Network: For the summer 2026 season, the airline has significantly reduced its own scheduled operations to focus on high demand routes from three European gateways: London Gatwick, Rome Fiumicino, and Athens.
  • Nordic Market Exit: Notably, the airline has discontinued all direct flights between Nordic cities and the United States, including its original flagship Oslo to New York route.

Fleet and Destinations
  • Aircraft: The airline operates an all Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet, known for improved fuel efficiency and a more comfortable cabin atmosphere with better humidity and larger windows.
  • Remaining U.S. Routes: Scheduled 2026 routes primarily connect London and Rome to major U.S. hubs like New York JFK, Los Angeles, and Orlando.
  • Asian Expansion: The airline has diversified by adding winter seasonal routes to Bangkok and Phuket from London, Oslo, and Stockholm.

Service and Cabins
Norse offers a two cabin configuration designed to provide choices based on budget:
  • Norse Premium (Biz Premium): Features a dedicated cabin with a 2-3-2 layout, 43 inch seat pitch, significant recline, and included meals and drinks.
  • Norse Economy: A standard 3-3-3 layout where passengers can choose between Light, Classic, and Flextra fare tiers to customize what amenities (such as meals or checked bags) are included.
  • Onboard Tech: All seats include personal seatback entertainment screens and power outlets, though Wi-Fi is generally not available.
