Norwegian
Norwegian Air Shuttle is the largest airline in Norway and a major low-cost carrier in the Nordic region. After a significant restructuring and the 2024 acquisition of the regional carrier Widerøe, it focuses primarily on short-haul and medium-haul routes across Europe.
- Hubs and Network: The airline operates a vast network from its main hubs at Oslo Airport, Copenhagen, and Stockholm. For the summer 2026 season, Norwegian plans to operate a total of 350 routes, including 30 new launches and expanded services to destinations like Italy, Spain, and the UK.
- Fleet Modernization: As of 2026, the airline expects to operate a fleet of approximately 97 aircraft. It is currently transitioning to a more fuel-efficient fleet consisting primarily of Boeing 737 MAX 8 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft to support its goal of reducing carbon emissions.
- Loyalty Program: Its rewards program, Norwegian Reward, allows members to earn CashPoints or a new shared currency called Spenn on flights and partner services. Members receive additional benefits, such as free baggage or Fast Track security, for every eight flights taken within a 12-month period.
- Service Model: Operating as a low-cost carrier, Norwegian offers a tiered pricing structure where passengers can choose between budget-friendly tickets with fewer amenities or flexible fares that include seat selection and checked baggage.
- Sustainability Initiatives: The airline is a participant in the EU ReFuelEU Aviation initiative and has committed to using at least 40% sustainable aviation fuel on specific routes, such as the Aalborg-Copenhagen service starting in spring 2026.
